Big business better grab their social media running shoes!

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:06 pm

The key to change is to let go of fear….

Social media and mobile computing are
going to make technology a part of everyday life….and fast!

The tablet computer, which may outsell laptops this year – and mobile high speed
Internet (4G) have brought simplicity to the masses.
Smart phones are giving us incredible abilities everywhere we go…and
its getting easier, smarter and delivering results we all want.

Any service, any product, researched,
rated and shared at every moment of every day.
Only the truly good will stand a chance of being rewarded.  Fraud and phonies and those overpriced and
under serviced will soon face the wrath of a very intelligent consumer….that
would be you….but which side of the fence are you really on?  Are you the intelligent consumer, or the
intelligent marketer that will create the value you would demand from those you
patronize?

We will no long be allowed to think
everything we want to buy is too expensive, or everything we have to sell is
too cheap…the world will set the price via social platforms.  Excellent service will be rewarded and shared
within social circles…it will be the power of a network.

I believe this is a world where
technology will become a part of our everyday life…

Walk into a store, get rewarded. Get
a customized flyer. Compare prices and services in the area instantly with full
ratings from friends and create a custom experience form your taste by genius
recommendations from your social search network.

Technology will be developed so that
those who are not on board will buy in….like the way my wife now hogs my iPad
every night! I have to get her one – of course because of technology, I already
know it will be worth waiting for the newer version that will be less expensive
and have all the latest features!

Technology will make life a
customizable experience.  The whenever we
want (mobile) wherever we want (wifi and cellular data), whomever (search
anything) why (our personal benefit)…

…. what are you doing to help bring
your business into this new marketing age?

Better go grab those running shoes,
because there are a ton of young and hungry entrepreneurs looking to grab a
share of your business!!!

Smile!,,

The only non dental, dental blog…..

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:52 pm

Improve your business, your life, your relationships, your finances and your health. When you do the whole world improves.

I believe in constant improvement, in being real, in treating others as I would be treated, in giving without worrying about receiving, in karma.  I believe when I trust others – I will be trusted, when I give without thoughts of greed – I get more than I give, when I love – I get loved…..

When I first started this ‘Ranting and Raving” thing, it was a way to add value for my local dentists.  It soon led to a website idea, then even further expanded into some networking.

Over the last year and a half – this has grown from 35 local people to include over ten thousand people all over the world! Pretty cool!

Initially, my goal was to provide a daily “Rave” – the rave featured a product every single day that would add value to any dental practice.  A cool product or technique that I personally knew would help out the office.

If this still interests you, it would be easy to dig into my archives and see this stuff.  I still bring out the old style “raves” regularly.  The reason it became less and less is because I realized how many great resources there were already on this type of knowledge.

You can easily surf to Dental Products ReportDental Product Shopper and Dentalcompare to find excellent reviews and keep up with the old and the new. In particular – I like how these web sites are now featuring ‘ratings’ and ‘reviews’. This was a goal of mine in particular, and I don’t feel I can do a better job than these excellent companies!

At the same time, you will still see me talk about products that I have had excellent personal reviews on.  I believe many products hit our industry with a lot of hype – but don’t add any particular value to your everyday practice.  My thoughts on this were published Sep/10 – “We don’t need another @#!%#% composite or bond!” …I had a lot of dentists in agreement!

My Rants tended to talk about the things I felt we could do better in our industry – in particular dental reps who don’t add any value.  This isn’t the end of my Ranting on this subject!

In the meantime, I have realized that the most popular blogs tend to be ‘everyday life’ situations. Analogies.  And I love this! The top rated and most hit blogs this last year will now be featured on the weekends! Subscribe over on the right side of this blog, simply add your email…

So I have strayed from the same old same old.  This blog is not, and never will be your ‘typical’ boring dental blog.

It will add experience and value to both life and dentistry – because that is what I live and breathe…..

Thanks for following a wandering mind…

5 more ideas for your Dental Practice Success….

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 12:39 pm

If you’re in a comfort zone, afraid to venture out, Remember that all winners were at one time filled with doubt.

To me these are the basics, but I have a wide range of subscribers!

Marketing
is changing at light speed!

#1 -
Build a website.  Hire a professional who
understands Search engine optimization….because it’s not always what you see
on the page that brings users to your website…..(my favorite, and a friend is Rich fromhttp://www.dds.com)

#2-
If you aren’t on Facebook or Twitter, you might want to consider an education
on this media.  Patient reviews,
comments, referrals, check ins.  My bet
is half the patients your worked with today are linked to one of these social
sites….giving them an experience to talk about is important, but do you
understand why Facebook and Twitter actually matter?

#3-
if you are still a little hesistant, make sure to at least set up your google
places so that it’s easier to see what people are saying about you….because
they will.

#4 -
consider using a service like Demandforce to help market your practice – I
could write a who,e blog on this alone….actually I have! Since I last wrote
Demandfore has added several powerful new features including social media that
will help you gain some control of your reviews and help you get noticed!

#5-
Find a guy like me! Well trained reps are interested in helping you grow your
practice for the life of your practice….

Social Media is not a cult.

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 2:39 pm

“I am standing outside the box that others color in, banging on the walls, screaming – come on out to play!”
~Warren

A friend of mine on Facebook said “I wish people would be more willing to color outside the box….

Well, I am standing outside the box, and its’ uncomfortable standing out here by myself – so now I am BANGING on the box – come on out and PLAY!!!!

There is a time and a place for everything.

Many of my dental relatives are connected via this new social media thing – Facebook for the most part, and Twitter. There are some great benefits!

I can see how this can benefit your marketing – at the same time, I understand how some of you are hesitant.  Do you really have to be that cutting edge to maintain your practice? Why not let a few others dip their feet in the pool, figure out what the temperature is, and then maybe wade in ankle deep?

I don’t see this new media thing as something that you HAVE to nose dive in!  There is a place for you in social media, but for me and my customers – I haven’t quite figured it out yet.

Here are the challenges that my customers face….

Time comittment. The majority of offices I work with are quite busy already.  Everyone can use more business, and a referral is the best way to get this.  I believe social media is a great way to get your patients to refer you.  By asking them to just ‘like’ your page – they are referring you! At the same time, they may have something ‘nasty’ to say about their experience. Its the new age, and this is the fear many of my customers have.  They may not have time to dedicate to watching what is being said, and may not know how to react.

Worried about Liability. I believe if you are sincere with your intentions, and careful not to hurt anyone, you have way bigger issues than Social Media when it comes to Liability. I am not an expert in this field – but I am sometimes embarrassed to be a part of the human race where people look to sue others so quickly.  I’m only human is more than just a saying – for some of us its’ a sincere expression of saying we could have done better – and that was our intention. Do those people deserve to be sued?

Privacy. Its’ ok. If you are private – you can still explore social media in a private manner. It is being done by millions of people.  As a matter of fact, you can probably explore social media in a more private manner than if you just open your browser and google search….

Come on. You must be at least a little curious why Facebook is growing in such huge leaps around the world!

Don’t be scared.  Find a friend who can hold your hand and help you discover a really cool thing…..

Happy if I am counted to be among your friends…

1 idea x 100 x 100 x 100 x ?  = Revolution

1 guy had an idea that he didn’t like the way the music industry controlled music.  He had an idea based on what was good for the consumer, and the music industry has never been the same.

Seth Godin said years ago there was a better way to distribute written words, and spread ideas.  Before Facebook ever came along, before Kindle was invented.

I believe that you and I control the answer to the next revolution in how the products we are using will be distributed.  If you have an issue with the way business is handled in today’s world – you have a voice like never before.

A great example of this was an issue I had with Coinstar.  I tried traditional methods of resolving an issue.  A quick email which lead to twenty more emails. A phone call which resolved nothing. A frustrating few hours where I did all the work to resolve a problem that in the past would have easily been forgotten and buried. One single customer in a world of millions of consumers.

One crafted tweet brought me immediate resolution.

I had a similar issue with Shaw Cable. A whole weekend of being without Internet and a terrible answer when I called customer service. Hours on the phone and no great answer.

One tweet brought me instant gratification.

Both these connected companies performed wonderfully and provided a great answer – but why did it have to go to the point of public scrutiny before they resolved the issue?  I believe the management has properly empowered their people – but when people can perform their tasks hidden in a closet, do they always perform as you hoped? Or maybe these customer service ‘first line’ are not empowered?

The opportunity.

Think of a frustration you have.  Craft an idea. Recruit others. Share. Do you have an answer that can really help a company do better, or can you create the next revolution in a market you already know so well….

Revolutionary Ideas…..viral ideas…..

I am 1 person connected to 78 countries, with no less than 100,000 dental community friends in less than two clicks of a mouse.

The worst Dental Practice Ever…

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 2:24 pm

It is not enough to give the patient excellent service, make them AWARE of the excellent service they are getting…
~Warren Bobinski

I have been speaking about TIMEfactors for quite some time now – as a matter of fact, I am working on a book that will help bring this idea to life for most dental practices.

My goal is to GIVE this information to you for FREE!

Why?

Because I believe when I help others, good things happen.  It may be financial, it may be the hundreds of amazing new friends I have made.  For some reason, when I try to help someone I always feel good – and I get something in return.

Dental Scammers….
I am not stupid.  I understand business. But in our business, I believe there are too many people trying to find fast riches. Many take advantage of their colleagues, and boast of the greatest formula for success since the beginning of time. It reminds me of the weight loss industry.

There are a million ways to diet and get into shape – but some principles really don’t change all that much. For the most part a good weight loss plan would look something like this….

#1 – Eat right.
#2 – Don’t be lazy.

or a little more complex.

#1 – Figure out your required daily caloric intake.  Take in a little less, but make sure the calories you take in are from a balance of nutritious foods.

#2 – Figure out a workout regimen that you can stick to. Don’t overdo it, but don’t be lazy.  A little every day, or a little more every other day will get you where you want to go. If you try to go too fast, you will be impressed initially with the results, but you will HATE having to do it.  Its’ not who you are.

#3 – Make sure you can integrate this into your every day life. Make it a part of your lifestyle to constantly improve.

Now lets’ look at the worst dental practice ever….

#1 – Doesn’t eat right.  Allows everyone else to influence the caloric intake.  Try and figure out everything on your own, make a ton of expensive mistakes.  Way too many ‘calories’ (expenses) and the owner is concerned, but keeps eating anyways. Doesn’t adjust the calories – just lets it be and keeps getting into worse shape.

#2 –   Doesn’t exercise.  Allows laziness and inefficiency.  If they are going to ‘eat’ so much – they better ‘work out’ even more! There are fixed calories that are coming in every day no matter what – so the best way to be in charge is to come up with a great ‘work out’ plan! That means making sure the team is producing more than it is expensing.

TIMEfactors.

I truly believe most offices suffer when trying to implement complicated formulas for success in their practice.  Why not keep it really simple? It can be!

#1 – Time is money. Gain more time in a day, and you will make more money. Its’ better to work 1 hour and make $1000 than to work 8 hours and make $2000.  For some reason – we are fixated with creating practices that have these huge grosses, but the profit margins suck.  The only way most gurus seem to tell people to get the best of all worlds is to increase your prices and cut expenses.
Duh.
The problem is, how many people are comfortable with this?

#2 – Time is money.

Ya – that’s it!

Subscribe or come back tomorrow for more information on how to EASILY make more money next year – no smoke and mirrors. Just common sense.

One time or life time?

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 3:37 pm

If you save someone a dollar they
will like you until someone else saves them two…
If you show them how to make a
dollar, they will always wonder how much more you can help them make….

Are you interested in a one time
sale, or a relationship?

 ~Warren

I was thinking about this from a salesmans’ perspective, because I used to work this way. It was all about saving my customer a dollar. After 10 years of working this way, I slowly learned that as many customers as I gained this way, I also lost this way.

There was no value or loyalty in saving someone a dollar.

If I could instead show them that I can consistently provide for their needs – I was able to get a better result.  Sometimes the need was a lower price – but that was super simple. The harder part was finding answers to other needs of my customers.  Helping with reducing overhead, help with analyzing the business, finding and motivating staff, education and team work.

By thinking differently and taking the time to work hard on finding answers for my customers – I was not only able to meet their pricing criteria, I was able to add value to the services I provided.

As a dentist, you are faced with this type of situation as well.  Are you providing a service that any other local office can provide, or are you listening to the needs of your patients? What would they expect from you? Have you asked? Are they happy with their smile, or are you dictating the terms or simply allowing it to be whatever it will be?

Value added services might be a fantastic perio program, an education on providing the latest services like implants, orthodontics or simply whitening teeth.

It sounds so easy, and yet so many I have worked with over the years keep going for the ‘one time’ sale…

Cut the fat.

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:41 pm

The best way to succeed in this world is to act on the advice you give to others.

If you haven’t been following along – I was asked to talk about what has lead to my success over the years.  I have to admit, I am pretty good at what I do – but don’t feel like I am anywhere near where I want to be.  There is so much left to accomplish!

On that note – and keeping in mind I sincerely believe the only way to achieve success is to find a formula tailored to what works for you, here are a couple of more ‘generic’ things that have worked for me.

Get rid of the bottom 20%.  I regularly make cuts to my business in order to grow.  The 20% of your territory/patients/business can take up to 80% of your time! Why not regularly trim off the stuff that bogs you down so you can focus your energy on something more positive.  For me, the extra time isn’t always about finding more work either.  At this point in my career, I work hard on networking and asking for referrals.  I want to work with more people who appreciate the effort I put into my profession.  I chose to cut those that play games.  I guarantee lowest price. Personally guarantee it.  So now that price is out of the way, lets’ work on your other needs.

Over my career, I have cut approximately $600,000 per year of business…and every time – I have made significant leaps forward in both happiness and financial gain.

This can be done with patients as well.  Are you spending all your time ‘selling’ treatment plans – or ‘performing’ treatment plans?  When you work with people who appreciate you, come to you by referral – you will spend way more of your time performing than treating.

Use an analogy to compare this to your business…it can and does work over and over.

Be Happy.  Regardless of whether my income goes up or down – my happiness level is staying the same.  I try not to be focused on the money.  I sincerely believe the rewards follow anyone that is doing right.  I only wake up thinking about opportunity – not worried about what someone thinks any longer.  I KNOW I am doing the right thing by the people I work with, and that makes me happy! I am good about negotiating and taking care of my family – but more importantly I make sure that my negotiations end with a win-win.
Nobody else can dictate my goals in life. Nobody else can make me happy.  I am in control of how life works, and what I get out of it.

Hope this helps you out with your day!

Smile!
